Championing wellbeing and being there for colleagues when they need him the most. Adam’s making a positive impact as an Assistant Manager in our Milton Keynes team.

What are your responsibilities and what’s a typical day like for you at Deloitte?

I often associate working in HR as like being an engineer. The spectrum of my work is very broad and the term ‘HR’ may mean many things depending on the person’s speciality. There are so many vital ways HR can positively affect the business, for example engagement, wellbeing and reward.

Every day at work, I feel free to express my ideas and air my opinion, which is vital when practising HR as there are often moral and legal considerations at the heart of our work. There are also a broad range of challenges. For example, one of the most interesting parts of HR for me is attraction within recruitment. Another hot topic in HR right now is employee wellbeing, as well as growth within agile working practices.

I also feel that I’m able to make an impact each day. HR doesn’tonly affect a business, but the people within the business. The Milton Keynes office is full of talented people and has a real sense of community.

What’s the best part of your job and in what ways is your team innovative?

It’s gratifying when you’re able to help people and improve their work life, and outlook in general. At Deloitte, there are individuals from hundreds of different fields, making it a fascinating place to work.

Continuous service improvement is high on the HR agenda. It’s about improving efficiency and embedding innovation to promote inclusivity, increase attraction and reduce attrition.

Why would you recommend Deloitte to someone?

Deloitte is a great place to work, the firm recognises and celebrates diversity and I’m very proud of that. If you have potential and work hard, you can achieve amazing things here. It’s inspiring.

I typically work from home one day a week, which is great from a wellbeing perspective. It’s also easy to do as the firm has great security software.

Outside of my role, I’ve been able to take part in our ‘One Million Futures’ initiative as well as a mentoring scheme with MK Academy.
