Aditi Basu – The only way is SAP | Deloitte UK has been saved
Senior Consultant in Tech – Enterprise Applications, Aditi enjoys making life easier for people. One of our leading ladies in tech, she shares some of her Deloitte career highlights.
How did you join Deloitte?
I applied for an open position via an online portal and soon got a call from the team for the interview; the overall recruitment process was very smooth!
What are you responsible for in your role?
I am an Order to Cash expert who specialises in SAP delivery with Retail as my preferred industry. I am normally the Sales business process lead on SAP enabled transformation projects. In my last role, I did this on an S/4HANA Cloud implementation project.
What’s a typical day like for you?
The day mostly starts with some English breakfast & a hot cappuccino (or just a croissant at times). The day’s activities would typically vary according to the project phases but it could range from leading day long workshops with the business, to streamlining business processes, to delivering user training.
I interact closely with the business leads & also with the users of the programmes, to understand the business processes, define the structure of the enterprise and explain how the system operates. It is a mixture of business interactions and working on SAP, preparation of workshop materials, documenting the functional specifications for the business, supporting testing, and creating and presenting system demos.
What was your most memorable moment on the job so far?
When I was nearing the end of my first project in Deloitte UK, I received a call from my project manager who said the client had written to him saying that he really valued my understanding of the business, architecture & integrations. He mentioned how crucial my presence would be for the next phase. It was really a good moment where my work was appreciated, recognised and the client specifically requested for me to continue with them for the next phase.
What’s the best part of your job and in what ways is your team innovative?
The best part of my job is making life easier for the business user, whether it is by training them or building a solution which makes their day to day business faster and simpler.
Why would you recommend Deloitte to someone?
Deloitte is one of the best places to work. The work culture, ethics, the flexibility options and the work life balance are really good. The firm invests in its practitioners and the leadership team is also very supportive and approachable.
How are you supported to work flexibly?
Work from home is supported a lot within Deloitte. I generally work from home on Fridays and take time out when I need it.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I am part of the Women in Technology group within Deloitte and help publish the Women in Technology Newsletter every month.
I also love writing short stories & travelling during my spare time!
