How did you join Deloitte?

I joined Deloitte through the online application process. The process was rigorous, and it tested my abilities, but also got my best skills out.

What are you responsible for in your role?

Throughout my time here at Deloitte I have been given various tasks and responsibilities. My primary role is to assist engagement managers with the audit by carrying out all sorts of tasks, whether it be planning or year-end testing.

What’s a typical day like for you?

No two days here are the same. Each day is varied in terms of the tasks I undertake. The tasks allocated are often new, which I have not completed previously, making each day challenging and demanding but rewarding. I’ve had the opportunity to work with a variety of different people in the office, which has allowed me to get to know everyone better.

What is your most memorable moment on the job so far?

The most memorable moment for me has to be when I was invited for an informal chat with a senior manager, so he could let me know that my efforts are being recognised. I had been working quite hard on a particular client and after having the conversation, I learnt that hard work is very much appreciated here at Deloitte and it does not go unrecognised.

What’s the best part of your job and in what ways is your team innovative?

The best part of my job is having flexibility around the work, having the ability to move around, and be able to travel and work. from different locations makes the job exciting. I have had to work from client sites locally and have also had the chance to travel abroad for work.

Why would you recommend Deloitte to someone?

You will be welcomed from the very first day, and everyone is focused on your personal development and helping you to reach your potential. You have the chance to speak your mind and be heard, no matter what level you are at.

How are you supported to work flexibly?

Working flexibly is supported and the managers are understanding of personal situations and commitments - they allow flexible working if it is necessary.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like to go to the gym and enjoy playing sport. Guernsey is an island which promotes a healthy lifestyle and there is plenty to get involved in.
