How did you join Deloitte?

I wanted to develop my career in the best place possible, so I pursued an available opportunity.

What are you responsible for in your role?

I am the Engagement Manager for a portfolio of clients, and I oversee the successful delivery of recurring client work, as well as taking on ad hoc advisory assignments. I work with a wide range of Deloitte staff as well as focusing on building and maintaining internal and external relationships.

What’s a typical day like for you?

I always start with a cup of coffee. Every time. I usually work my way through my planned list of tasks for my portfolio clients, but I also like to mix it up with some personal learning time. Deloitte has an endless resource to maintain this as the landscape is constantly changing.

However, due to the nature of my role, I also like to set out my day in a way that I can anticipate something that isn’t scheduled arising on my calendar. These are more than often ad hoc queries or surprises that always add a bit of spice to my day.

What is your most memorable moment on the job so far?

It’s early days so far but completing the first phase of a strategic tax review has been the best bit. It has combined various technical areas of tax, and completion of the project may pave the way to further advisory assignments from this client.

What’s the best part of your job and in what ways is your team innovative?

The project and the variety of work I can do are awesome, however the people are the best part. It may sound a tad cliché, but you can read technical material till the cows come home, yet I learn the most from the people I work with.

Why would you recommend Deloitte to someone?

Culture here focuses primarily on trust and respect and you are included and valued as a person. The career progression is strong and the opportunities to further your development are limitless.

How are you supported to work flexibly?

Working flexibly is encouraged here and that’s not just meaningless words, unlike other employers. I feel understood and trusted that I can get on with the job without being constantly watched over.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I love climbing, sailing, exploring and cooking. I also love to run with bulls and go travelling, as well as embracing well-being.
