How did you join Deloitte?

I joined Deloitte’s Audit Graduate Scheme in October of 2009, shortly after completing my Law degree at Northumbria University.

What are you responsible for in your role?

I am the Talent Manager to around 20 audit support associates in the Subsidiary Accounts Completion Centre (SACC) and am responsible for ensuring the learning needs of all 60 people in the Centre are identified and met. I also lead the Innovation and Continuous Improvement agenda for my team.

What’s a typical day like for you?

I’ll start by reviewing holiday and flexible working requests for my team, and then I will check my calendar to see what meetings I have planned that day. These can range from SACC management team meetings to calls with the Audit Transformation team or HR.  Most recently, I have been heavily involved with Deloitte Way Workflows (DWW) through facilitating training courses, improving learning materials and leading 3 SACC sub-teams throughout the busy season as they complete this work.

What is your most memorable moment on the job so far?

Last year I organised the Deloitte Children’s Christmas Party in Newcastle. There was a lot involved to budget and plan this event but seeing 30 children having a wonderful time was worth it. Bringing the working parents together and our children meeting each other was great and lots of fun.

What’s the best part of your job and in what ways is your team innovative?

The people I work with are so hard-working, dedicated and intelligent - they are the best part of my job. As a team, we are always thinking of new ways to innovate. We even have a dedicated Innovation Team who meet to discuss the implementation of new ideas.

Why would you recommend Deloitte to someone?

The endless opportunities within Deloitte are one of the reasons I would recommend them. I began in the Audit service line, moved into the PSR Centre of Excellence and now I have this exciting role in the SACC team.

How are you supported to work flexibly?

I work part-time. I do not work Fridays and I work reduced hours on a Monday from home, to allow me to do the school run twice a week. Deloitte is fully understanding and supportive of this choice.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

My spare time is usually spent at a park, farm or swimming pool with my two young children.
