How did you join Deloitte?

I joined Deloitte after working in the Public Sector for a number of years. I applied online and progressed through the interview and assessment centre stages.

What are you responsible for in your role?

Currently I am the Commercial Team Lead for our engagement on a portfolio delivering improvements on a national scale into UK police forces. I oversee delivery, secure funding from Central Government and also manage the procurement team.

What’s a typical day like for you?

My routine involves a commute into central London, where I catch up on the latest box set or read a book. I’m a skilled multi-tasker (so I claim) so I also try to deal with any emails I’ve received overnight.

What was your most memorable moment on the job so far?

Last year, I was a winner in the Consulting category of the ‘We Are The City’ Rising Star Awards. I was nominated for developing a technology strategy alongside victims of serious crime. Being announced as a winner was a highlight of my career to date.

I’ve never been big on ‘selling myself’ or bragging about achievements, so I hope this shows that it’s ok to be quiet and focused on delivering the best you can to your clients, because along the way, someone will notice and truly appreciate your efforts.

What’s the best part of your job and in what ways is your team innovative?

Working on the Security and Justice account gives me the opportunity to help clients in a sector I feel truly passionate about. This is undoubtedly the best part of my job. I’m surrounded by colleagues who share my unfaltering desire to genuinely improve the technology provided to police officers to ensure they have the best tools to do their job. It’s an exciting and inspiring team to be a part of.

Why would you recommend Deloitte to someone?

For me, the biggest draw is the culture and the people you work with. From Analyst  to Partner everyone is approachable and genuinely passionate about their work.

How are you supported to work flexibly?

Knowing I can work from home and avoid the commute on Friday but still be available and involved with the team via skype, is fantastic.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I volunteer as a Special Constable. It’s rewarding and challenging and directly supports the work I do for the Security and Justice account. I also love climbing mountains and will be tackling Slieve Donard at the end of February – I’ve been  inspired by my Deloitte Belfast colleagues, who I’ve been working with for the past year!
