How did you join Deloitte?
I didn’t consider doing an apprenticeship to begin with, but when I researched the Deloitte BrightStart scheme I couldn’t resist.
What are you responsible for in your role?
As an Analyst in the Global Employer Services department, we cover the tax implications of international assignments, and then prepare and submit the returns to HMRC to ensure compliance.
What’s a typical day like for you?
It’s hard to give a typical day because every day is so different but generally, the first thing I do when I come into the office at 9:00 am is look through my emails. I'll be drafting replies to any client queries, preparing for any tax briefings or attending any meetings I may have. The rest of the day can be from preparing tax returns to updating an STBV report.
What is your most memorable moment on the job so far?
There are many memorable moments but the best one for me was submitting the tax return for a high profile client while liaising with the directors directly. All the researching, calculating and preparing was a lot of work but it was very satisfying to complete.
What’s the best part of your job and in what ways is your team innovative?
Without a doubt, the best part of my job is the people that I work with. They are all so welcoming and understanding. We also have regular casual catch-ups where we talk about what issues we may be facing, and how we can innovate processes to make them easier.
Why would you recommend Deloitte to someone?
Deloitte is the most innovative and welcoming firm with a well-structured, tried and tested apprenticeship scheme.
How are you supported to work flexibly?
The team encourage working from home and working flexibly, it’s a great feeling knowing we have this available as sometimes circumstances outside of work need to take priority.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I love to play football and watch Brighton and Hove Albion in their thrilling 0-0 draws.
