How did you join Deloitte?

I initially did work experience at school with Deloitte. Shortly after, I was then awarded the bursary and subsequently joined after university.

What are you responsible for in your role?

I am responsible for delivering audits for some of our larger clients by overseeing the process, from planning to signing and managing my team, to complete the work to a high standard. I also perform financial instrument consultations for other teams and lead internal training courses.

What’s a typical day like for you?

On a daily basis I check in with my staff to ensure they understand their tasks and measure their progress, providing any assistance and guidance where necessary. I also keep oversight of my engagements, ensuring we stick to both internal and client set deadlines.

I frequently converse with the partner of my engagements, making them aware of the status of the work and obtaining their advice on complex areas.

To relax after work, I head to the squash court and play some matches against others in the office as a bit of friendly competition.

What is your most memorable moment on the job so far?

Being promoted to manager midway through the year has been my greatest achievement at the firm. It shows that the hard work I put in over the past 4 years was recognised and rewarded suitably.

What’s the best part of your job and in what ways is your team innovative?

I thoroughly enjoy meeting clients in person, discussing their business, and offering solutions to resolve their problems.

My team recently visited a client at their Istanbul office to discuss their investment valuations and being face-to-face really adds value to the quality of our work and the business relationship.

Why would you recommend Deloitte to someone?

Deloitte offers a superb fast-track promotion program, giving you exposure to the most interesting aspects of the work earlier on in your career.

How are you supported to work flexibly?

I was granted the opportunity to take a career break of 4 months after I had qualified to go travelling, I was then welcomed back into the office on my return.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Aside from travelling to new countries to take in the local culture and history, I enjoy photography and water sports.
