People Series – Eisha Chander, Manager talks about her time in Real Assets Advisory

1. Why did you decide to choose to pursue a career in Real Assets Advisory (RAA)?

I have always been intrigued with the construction industry, hence why I decided to pursue my career within it. I chose to work in RAA as I can see the variety of opportunities available within the Real Assets environment to enhance my skillset, ranging from my main profession of Quantity Surveying to assurance work for our clients.

2. Where did you work before joining RA, and how did your previous workplace compare to your time at Deloitte?

I have worked at other large-scale businesses such as Aecom and Arcadis (formerly EC Harris). In comparison to these large companies, Deloitte is a more inclusive environment where I am comfortable being myself with everyone who I work with and meet. The agile working encouraged by the company really allows me to have a healthy work/life balance.

3. What has been your most enjoyable experience so far and why?

I have been lucky enough to form new friendships with my colleagues, so it makes coming into work a lot more fun. I have had the opportunity to work on different projects and network with new individuals whom I wouldn’t usually cross paths with.

4. What have you been engaged on so far during your time at Deloitte?

I have worked on various projects ranging from corporate occupier capital delivery projects to public sector work, which involved working alongside the Department of Health to assist with the set up and daily running of the Test and Trace programme. I am currently working with one of our regular clients, Stanhope on an office complex at White City, London.

5. How does Deloitte promote an inclusive environment in the workplace?

Whilst the construction industry is traditionally male dominated, working at Deloitte provides an inclusive environment and there are active initiatives to promote diversity & inclusion including gender equality in the workplace. There are also various networks, groups and societies within the business which focused on respect & inclusion and enable Deloitte employees to be themselves. Real Assets Advisory has a specific Values Framework aimed at instilling respect and integrity in the way we operate as a team. I truly feel that I am given equal opportunities to enable me to progress my career.

Eisha is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, with extensive experience of working on commercial and mixed-use developments. Eisha has carried out pre and post contract construction duties which include tendering, contract administration, interim valuations and final accounts. During Eisha’s time at Deloitte she has also conducted assurance work for various clients.
