Team GB’s sporting future

Delivering the ultimate Games plan strategy

Nothing happens by chance. Team GB’s stellar rise from 36th in the Atlanta ‘96 medal table to 2nd at Rio 2016 twenty years later is the result of meticulous planning, dedication and a drive to be the best in the world. At PyeongChang 2018, and with Tokyo 2020 on the horizon, the British Olympic Association (BOA) have been single-mindedly focused on supporting and maintaining that success for the next generation of athletes and fans.

Before the dust settled in the Maracana at Rio 2016, the BOA launched their 2017–2024 strategic plan, with a bold vision to “unite and inspire the nation through the power of Olympic Sport”. It would do this by having the best supported team in Olympic competition – and this is where Deloitte made an impact.

With years of valuable expertise in the Olympic fold, Deloitte helped shape the BOA’s strategy whilst developing a framework for planning, delivering and tracking the activity that will underpin the journey to the next Games and beyond. Deloitte has supported the BOA to maintain a relevant presence outside of Games time to help build strong levels of commercial activity and engagement with fans ahead of the next Olympic cycle.

In the last year alone, Deloitte have helped with some of the biggest changes in the organisation’s history, including an important step-change in its digital offering, helping to pioneer new sporting concepts such as Team GB Trials, and innovative marketing packages for commercial partners.

The BOA has a clear and considered plan for how it is going to achieve its strategic objectives for the 2020 and 2024 Olympic cycle, ensuring financial stability and growth to allow us to continue to seek success on the field of play. Throughout this year, Deloitte have played an integral part in some significant changes within the organisation allowing us to become one of the leading National Olympic Committees.
