Each area offers specific training

The exact nature of your training programme depends on your role and the area of our business you join. And the content evolves all the time. Just like our industry. What’s consistent, is that every programme is structured and proven, and will give you all the knowledge, skills and behaviours you’ll need to be a success.

What professional qualifications are available?

Again, this depends on the area you join. You’ll study for your professional exams in tandem with your everyday projects. Find out more below.

Entry Level Apprenticeship

Working in one our professional support centres, in either Cardiff or Milton Keynes, you’ll be here to shape your career, as well as gain on-the-job experience and a professional qualification below:

  • Cardiff: Level 3 City & Guilds Business Administration
  • Milton Keynes Customer Services Team: Business Administration - Customer Services
  • Milton Keynes Finance Team: Professional finance qualification (AAT)
  • Milton Keynes HR Team: Chartered Institute Personnel Development (CIPD)

BrightStart Higher Apprenticeship

You’ll follow the same training as our graduates, but stretched over four years instead of two. In most cases, this is not a degree course, more of an alternative to University that includes highly transferable professional qualifications. (The exception are Consulting roles in Belfast, where you’ll study for five years and will earn a degree.)

Audit 

  • In England and Wales: ACA (The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales). Or ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants). 
  • In Scotland: ICAS (The Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland)

Consulting

  • Human Capital (Belfast only): Business Technology degree via Ulster University AND BCS (British Computer Society) qualification – The Chartered Institute for IT professional certifications AND Prince 2
  • Human Capital (London only): Specific qualification TBC
  • Strategy & Operations (London only): CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accounting) qualification
  • Technology Consulting (London only): CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accounting) qualification OR Digital Innovation qualification (limited to specific roles)
  • Technology Consulting (Belfast only): Business Technology degree via Ulster University OR Software Engineering degree via Hertfordshire University (limited to specific roles) AND BCS (British Computer Society) qualification – The Chartered Institute for IT professional certifications AND Prince 2 AND ISTQB Testing Foundation Level (limited to specific roles)

Financial Advisory

  • You will study the ACA qualification (the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) 

Risk Advisory

Risk Advisory BrightStarts will complete a Higher Apprenticeship in either Professional Accountancy or as a Junior Management Consultant, depending on service line. Both apprenticeships will lead to a Level 4 professional qualification:

  • Professional Accountancy:
    • England and Wales: ACA (The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales)
    • In Scotland: ICAS (The Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland)
  • Junior Management Consultant - CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants)
  • Level 4 qualification in Cyber Security, tailored to your background (technical or non-technical). This will utilise on the job training, classroom learning, and cyber simulations.

Tax Consulting

  • In Business Tax or Indirect Tax: You will study the ACA and CIOT qualifications (the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the Chartered Institute of Taxation); we refer to this as the joint programme (two qualifications in one)
  • In Global Employer Services: You’ll study for the ATT and CTA qualifications (The Associate of Tax Technicians and the Chartered Institute of Taxation); we refer to this as the tax pathway
