What do my team and I do?

We are helping to build the HR function for the future. We’ve got a helicopter view of the function and it’s our job to ensure we have the right resources in place to help us achieve our goals. We work out if there are any gaps in our knowledge, skill set, capabilities and tools that may stop HR being successful. We also manage the HR budget and make cases for investment in areas we feel need supporting, or to support the business’s changing requirements.

Where does my team fit?

Operations is a niche team that reports to the HR Operations Director and helps support the Head of HR. We work across all of the teams in HR to support the UK and Switzerland business. We manage the relationship between HR and the HR Shared Services Organisation who are the main point of contact for the majority of our staff.

How does my role make an impact that matters with Deloitte?

We are there to ensure that we have the right HR team in place which has a direct impact on the quality of HR service we offer the business. We are key influencers in how people feel about working for Deloitte and as we’re a people-based business, this is fundamental to the success of the firm.

My biggest accomplishment.

Gaining a Masters in Employment Law whilst working full time. I’ve never done law before so it was a big challenge and I’m very proud of it. I also managed to cling on to my sanity!

What I’m most proud of at Deloitte?

I joined the operations team when we were just starting to put the business case together for the big HR transformation. The opportunity to have a project based role and learn about how a large-scale project is run effectively really appealed to me. It’s a high-level, big investment project, so to work on it with experienced subject matter experts and learn new skills was a fantastic opportunity and something I learnt a lot from.

My favourite part of the job.

It’s the opportunity to look across the whole function and being able to positively influence the way we do things. There’s huge variety in the role and lots of interesting projects going on. I also enjoy working so closely with the HR Leadership Team, they all work extremely hard and are very inspirational.

Something more about me.

I am a mother of two, I love Mountain biking although I don’t get chance to do it very often. I am also a Trustee of a charity called HomeStart. They help vulnerable parents who have children under the age of five. The great thing about Deloitte is that they try to support you to get the right work-life balance, which is no easy thing for a professional services firm.
