What do our people say?
Business & Financial Advisory
Tell us a bit about your background.
After studying History and Spanish at UCL I got a place on the TeachFirst programme. For the two years of this training programme I taught History and Spanish at a challenging school in North London. It was the hardest but most rewarding thing I’ve ever done. The things I learnt will stay with me for life.
I realised that TeachFirst had connections with Deloitte so I applied for a summer internship in Financial Advisory. During my two weeks here I met some amazing people and did a fascinating project on a festival company. It convinced me that Deloitte was where I needed to be so I applied for the graduate programme. Because I’d already done the internship I was fast-tracked to the Partner interview stage, and here I am.
Tell us about your team. What’s special about them?
Transaction Services is very diverse. People come from lots of different backgrounds and countries so I find it fascinating from that point of view. Naturally we work hard and when projects reach their peak there can be long hours, but your hard work is always recognised and rewarded, and it brings us together as a team. We’ve done some amazing things too – dinner in the Shard, the races at Ascot, tennis and rugby tournaments, skiing and, my personal favourite, seeing Ed Sheeran at Wembley.
The people that inspire me most are the ones who exude knowledge and confidence. Although some of it comes from experience, my managers seem to effortlessly balance the demands of projects, managing people and helping develop juniors like me.
I love working at Deloitte as I’m surrounded by amazing people and have so many opportunities. I can definitely be myself and have grown as a person since joining.
