Life at Deloitte
What projects have you worked on so far?
To date I have only worked on one project – a big data warehouse transformation project for an insurance company in the City of London. It is one of the largest projects Deloitte’s consulting arm is currently working on – involving many Deloitte employees as well as contractors.
What do you like most about your role?
I like the responsibility associated with the role. I am expected to work across the business with both consultants and contractors, ranging from fellow analysts right up to partners.
My main role as a Defect Manager, is to ensure defects in the data system are correctly identified, assigned and fixed when they need to be. This means I work with developers, testers and business users – all of whom have their own timescales and objectives. This understandably requires a degree of juggling, planning and diplomacy.
What work do you get involved in on a day to day basis at Deloitte?
Why do you think Deloitte is a good place to work?
The training and support you are given are first class. You get responsibility from day one but also all the tools you need to cope with it. You get more responsibility as you progress, but also more support.
All of the social events for analysts, project teams, and Consulting are also a plus.
How has Deloitte played a role in your long term career goals?
Working at Deloitte has helped me learn more about technology, something I never knew much about before I joined. I also want to travel more with my work – something I think Deloitte will certainly help me achieve.
What advice would you give to anyone thinking about working in technology?
Throw yourself into it, make friends, ask questions and don’t panic if you think Technology isn’t for you.
