Life at Deloitte

Nabil Mirza

Senior SAP & HR Governance Analyst, Shared Services Organisation

I graduated from the University of Northampton with a BA Hons in Business Information Systems. I previously worked in a number of different companies including EasyJet, Volkswagen and Santander in an IT support capacity. I also worked in IT recruitment in the City but decided it wasn’t for me. I started at Deloitte in 2012 on the IT Service Desk, initially as a Fixed Term Contractor and then moved into the reporting team. I’ve been in the SAP Governance team for a year now and have become a permanent member of staff.

What do you get involved with on a day to day basis?

My role is quite varied as I support a number of different Deloitte systems. I’m involved with reporting, administration, configuration and maintenance, security and authorisations and also training, so my work keeps me busy.

What attracted you to this role?

My aim is to become a SAP Consultant and this role provides me with a great opportunity to learn more about SAP in practise.

Can you remember your first day?

I can remember that I was over the moon! I was proud to be working for a company as prestigious as Deloitte as it had always been an aspiration of mine.

What is working in your team like?

I’m pretty fortunate to work in a team like mine. There is a lot of knowledge in the team and everyone is happy to help and support me when I come across something new. I’m learning new things every day.

Are you able to work in an agile way as part of your role?

Yes, I can work from the office or at home.

What is the best thing about working in the Shared Services organisation at Milton Keynes?

I love the fact my commute is so easy. If I drive into work, I can be at the office in 10 minutes or I can catch the bus which drops me off right outside the office. It’s very convenient.

What is the office environment like?

It’s a very sociable office and there is always something going on. You can get involved as little or as much as you want to. There are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby so we often go out for dinner.

What advice would you give to someone considering joining our Shared Services Organisation?

Deloitte is a global professional services organisation and there is plenty of opportunity to progress your career here. I don’t need to look outside of the Firm for another role as there are always new opportunities available, both in the UK and abroad, should I wish to change role.
