Life at Deloitte

Corporate Finance Advisory

Our Corporate Finance Advisory group provide some of the best M&A advice in the market. We offer services to a wide range of clients, including private equity houses, corporates, owner managed businesses and government. In addition to our M&A Advisory team, we have a number of other specialist teams who strengthen our core services with their specific expertise and industry knowledge. This means we are able to deliver innovative and bespoke solutions to clients whatever their sector, situation or location.

Lead Advisory

Our team provides independent financial advice and support to shareholders and investors in public and private companies, private equity houses and multinational organisations. The core of our work is advising buyers or sellers on an M&A transaction. We also work with financiers, lawyers and our colleagues in other parts of Financial Advisory, Tax, Audit and Consulting. Our expertise includes industry specialists and dedicated experts in debt/refinancing, distressed M&A, quoted markets and valuations.

Our teams have a wealth of transactional experience and an extensive network of contacts, which allows us to identify and deal with any issues that arise, negotiate on all aspects of a transaction and approach the right potential buyers. Our role as lead adviser to companies engaged in acquisitions, disposals or raising capital is key to increasing shareholder value to our clients.

Our core M&A advisory services are: disposals, M&A advisory, PLC advisory, debt advisory, special situations, valuation, and league table rankings and awards. Our advisers are drawn from a multitude of backgrounds, including industry, investment banking, broking, consulting, accountancy and government.

Our Valuations group includes qualified ACAs, MBAs, CFA Charter holders and economists from a variety of backgrounds who bring to bear their qualifications and experience for the benefit of our clients. We have extensive experience of valuing shares, businesses, tangible and intangible assets in a variety of commercial and contentious contexts. Our commercial perspective is supported by technical rigour, in addition to the insights and experience gained from performing numerous major assignments in the UK and internationally every year.

In addition to providing stand-alone valuation advice, we work closely with our industry and technical specialists across our four service lines – Audit, Tax, Consulting and Financial Advisory – to deliver an integrated solution tailored to our clients’ needs.

Debt Advisory

We help our clients negotiate debt, whether raising new finance or renegotiating existing facilities. Our services range from the strategic analysis of capital structures through to the provision of highly experienced execution resource. Our clients include public and private companies, private equity houses, their investee companies, financial institutions and governments. Our team is composed of high profile senior ex-bankers and career debt advisers. Because we are completely independent from providers of finance, our objectives are fully aligned with those of our clients. We were awarded Debt Advisory Firm of the Year 2009 by Acquisitions Monthly.

The team consists of 25 specialists based in London, Manchester and Leeds. Our global network encompasses over 60 dedicated Debt Advisory professionals spanning 32 countries, giving us unrivalled global reach.

Listen to Lead Partner for Debt Advisory, Fenton Burgin, discuss the growth the team has already seen and the potential for more in the years to come.

Private Equity

Private Equity (PE) has established itself in its own right over the last two decades. Current estimates suggest that worldwide there are over $1.5 trillion of assets under PE management. Our specialist teams focus on providing multi-disciplinary, industry specific solutions across the three key areas of the private equity cycle: funds, deals and portfolio. Our UK client base includes many of the world's largest private equity firms and their portfolio companies. We audit in excess of 150 private equity backed businesses in the UK, and we are proud sponsors of a number of private equity related events, including Buyout Track and SuperReturn.

Our people are the backbone of our success – and they’re recognised in the industry for it. For example, Martyn Gregory, our Corporate Finance Advisory Partner leading the South West and Wales practice, was named Corporate Financier of the Year at the ICAEW’s Financial Advisory Faculty annual event, September 2009, while our Partner for M&A Tax serves on the BVCA’s Tax Committee and our Partner for Audit is a member of the Financial Services Practitioner panel.

Economic Consulting

The Economic Consulting team consists of economists, econometricians and financial analysts who apply economic thinking to business problems. We combine modelling skills with deep industry knowledge to provide professional economic advice to companies, law firms, regulators and governments – covering everything from telecommunications and healthcare to EIU.

Government and Infrastructure

G&I (formerly the Public Private Partnerships team) provides specialist financial advisory skills both to the public sector and to private sector consortia bidding for public sector projects. We advise on creating and realising value from public assets (real estate and government investments). G&I encompasses professionals from three groups: Financial Advisory PPP, the PFI Healthcare team from Audit, and the local and regional government PFI team from Consulting. The group has a sector-based approach to its markets.

Business Modelling

Our Business Modelling team provides specialist modelling services to meet business challenges. With a dedicated modelling centre of excellence, and drawing upon the full service capability of the firm, we provide clients with robust and insightful analysis, enabling them to make better decisions and achieve greater stakeholder value.
