Our Private Company Services practice helps private companies, their owners, and individuals with substantial assets apart from businesses they directly operate, to understand, plan and execute effective business and tax strategies.
We advise businesses and their owners on all aspects of UK and international taxation, including income taxes, capital gains taxes, estate taxes and family office services. Our wide range of clients includes individuals (some high-profile), trusts, start-up ventures, privately owned companies, small to medium sized publicly owned companies, and owner-managed businesses. We also advise many of the largest UK and international law firms and their partners. The nature of our clients means that we need to be entrepreneurial ourselves in the way we think and act and be great at building trusting long term relationships with clients. The Deloitte Private Client team provides expert advice on all aspects of personal taxation. We provide strategies to high net worth individuals to protect and maximise their personal wealth, often dealing with complex, multi-jurisdictional issues, and involving holding structures such as trusts. We also assist entrepreneurs throughout the lifespan of their businesses – from early stage through to exit and beyond – and individuals involved in corporate transactions, such as management buy-outs. Our team was awarded the Lexis Nexis High Net Worth Team of the Year 2011 and the Citywealth Private Client Awards Accountant of the Year prize 2011. This follows similar success in past years and also significant individual recognition of many of the team members for their achievements and eminence in this marketplace.
Within the Deloitte Private Client department, you’ll work with a team of professionals committed to providing complex solutions to clients. You’ll work across a broad range of commercial backgrounds, from manufacturing businesses to firms specialising in financial services. In working with all these clients you will need to demonstrate an interest in and an appreciation of their businesses in order to ensure that any tax advice is tailored to meet their requirements and commercial objectives. Private Company Services includes Corporate Tax specialists advising some of the largest private companies UK and internationally. They combine deep expertise in the taxation of corporate groups with long term shareholder tax planning, working with fellow team members with a private client focus to deliver solutions that address both business and personal needs of the shareholders.
Corporation tax advice is a fundamental aspect of the work we do in Private Company Services. Our advice in this area is always bespoke, creative and brings together the company’s tax position with that of the long term objectives of the shareholders. Projects we get involved in include business restructuring, acquisitions and disposals work and ongoing tax advice to ensure that structures are operating efficiently. We also advise on new business launches and the conversion of non-corporate structures to include companies. The most important feature of our corporation tax advice is that is has to be practical – it must complement the business and sit comfortably within it. We also bring deep industry sector knowledge to bear with our clients, especially in technology, media, real estate and private equity. Our corporation tax specialists belong to a very large community of corporation tax professionals in Deloitte covering all industries and types of organisation, quoted and unquoted, so there are plenty of opportunities to access other specialists in particular areas and to team with them on client work.
The Private Company Services group is privileged to count as its clients the majority of the Top 50 UK headquartered law firms, as well as over 20 US law firms operating in the UK. This industry group is served by a team of advisors who are acknowledged leaders in the field of partnership taxation. Their specialist skills also enable them to serve a number of clients in other industries, such as surveying and fund management, who operate through a partnership structure.

Customs & Global Trade
Effective management of global trade decisions and obligations is an important – and sometimes overlooked – factor in a company’s global supply chain. Deloitte's global network of Customs & Global Trade specialists are experienced in global trade strategy, automation, export controls and import/export compliance. Our professionals help design strategies and structure global transactions to reduce customs duty payments and other international trade costs, increase duty recoveries and help ensure legal and regulatory requirements are met in a cost-effective manner.
Developing an optimal global trade strategy that enables our clients’ overall business strategy is a complex task. Our Global Trade & Customs practice has two main areas of expertise: export controls, and customs. Our market leading export control team is the largest and most experienced, with a global reputation for its quality and expertise. Working with Government bodies and industry groups, we often facilitate policy measures and communication between industry and the regulators across both dual-use and military controls.
Our customs team works with our clients to minimise the impact of customs duties and related taxes and corresponding import/export regulations on their global business. Focused on developing effective internal controls governing trade operations, supply chain security, duty management and customs compliance, our team has in-depth knowledge of customs related policies and national regulations, as well as local country practices.
