In Global Employer Services, we work with Board members, leading human resources teams and tax executives, to advise them on a variety of aspects of executive and employee mobility and reward. Taxation of employees and executive remuneration are key issues for all employers, and getting it right is paramount, not only from a commercial perspective but also for the client’s brand and reputation.

Your role

Employment-related costs, regulatory compliance, and identifying the most effective ways to attract, motivate and retain the best people are all key issues for companies. Our GES practice has grown rapidly in recent years and we are looking for graduates from a variety of backgrounds and degrees who want to work in a dynamic, exciting group.

As a GES professional, you must have excellent people skills, be self-motivated and have the ability to work to tight deadlines. You will also need to understand technology, be innovative and articulate ideas in a mature manner. In return, you can expect excellent opportunities to learn, build your network and advance your career.

We have a number of specialist departments within GES, with a wide variety of opportunities across all of these areas. These are broadly split between our Reward and Mobility teams with further information provided below.

If you have a particular interest in Financial Services, you can also specialise in our Financial Services team, which offers both mobility and reward consulting to many of the world’s leading financial institutions.

Mobility

The international nature of business requires a company to understand and constantly develop the nature of its presence around the world. A successful mobility programme strikes a balance between motivation and retention of talent, the swift and effective international movement of people to manage the global business, as well as effective policies and procedures for regulatory compliance.

As a mobility tax consultant, you will help solve these varied and complex challenges. We will support you in developing strong client management skills as you will be expected to build relationships with clients from the outset. You will work with colleagues across the globe to help companies manage many elements related to a globally mobile workforce, to address worldwide tax obligations and to help companies develop, motivate and retain an effective global workforce.

Our clients see this as a key area of competition in the market place and so seek our advice to stay ahead of the game. As a result, we are constantly striving to be innovative, utilising our analytics and technology teams to frequently develop new and relevant mobility solutions in the marketplace.

If you specialise in our High Net Worth group, you will advise some of Deloitte’s most high-profile individual clients and company executives. This will be focused on helping solve their complex US and UK tax issues across a variety of different scenarios. 

Reward

Organisations seek to design and operate world-class reward programmes in a cost-effective, tax efficient and compliant manner for the employer as well as the employees. As a specialist in this field, you will help align reward programmes with the overall HR and corporate strategies, and marketplace needs.

You will develop expert skills in providing tax consulting services on employment tax planning, including cost reduction initiatives and flexible benefits. Clients seek our advice on the reward approach for senior executives and board members, as well as innovative pay and benefit structures to motivate and retain employees.

You will also help our global clients manage their risk and controls in this complex area or help address an array of tax and regulatory matters at various stages of a company's lifecycle, including mergers, acquisitions, and general restructuring.

We advise a wide variety of clients across a range of different sectors and geographies, which provides a great opportunity for varied learning and teambuilding. All our clients value our advice and therefore developing strong relationships with clients and the broader team is encouraged from day one. 

Professional Qualifications

In addition to taking part in the Tax Analyst Development Programme, we will support you in obtaining professional qualifications that will be beneficial to your everyday work and long-term career. In GES we offer the opportunity to study for the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) qualification followed by the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CTA) qualification, if appropriate.

Although the learning curve is steep, we’ll provide you the training and support you need in order to pass the exams. Time will be set aside for study and revision classes with qualified teachers to give you the best possible chance of success.
