Student opportunities in Financial Advisory
Restructuring Services provides assistance and advice to under-performing, financially distressed or insolvent businesses and/or their stakeholders. This may take the form of working with stakeholders or acting in a formal insolvency role such as Administrators.
What work would you get involved in on a day to day basis as a graduate in your team?
You’ll benefit from gaining experience in all aspects of our work, including the areas of Complex Financial Restructurings, Business Recovery and Insolvency.
On insolvency appointments, we are generally responsible for running a business for a short period whilst steps are taken to formulate a rescue plan – this will often involve a period of hands-on trading and, ultimately, a sale/transition of the business.
The result is that at an early stage, you’ll find yourself becoming actively involved in the 'on-site' trading of a distressed company. You’ll work closely with company personnel, making decisions in a challenging environment and assisting senior management in negotiations with key customers and suppliers.
Where appropriate, you may also become involved in assisting senior management with the sale of the business. So you’ll have responsibility from the very start, working across almost every industry. Examples of our recent insolvency work includes HMV, Comet and Blockbuster.
On advisory engagements, you will be assisting senior members of staff with producing reports, researching the company and the market, analysing data and trends in order to provide our clients with detailed and robust advice.
