Life at Deloitte

Charlotte Desourdy

Senior Manager - Audit Advisory

What do you like most about your role?

I think there are three things which make my role enjoyable: the variety, the people and the challenge.

I love the variety that my role offers, working with different clients on different projects on a daily basis, my work is always challenging and I think that is why I enjoy it, there is never a dull moment!

I have worked with many people in the firm during my time at Deloitte and am constantly learning new things, the quality of our people is something Deloitte prides itself on and for me it is the number one thing I like about my role.

What work do you get involved in on a day to day basis at Deloitte?

As a senior manager, I am responsible for managing teams of consultants on different engagements. Typically I have about four projects ongoing at any one time.  I specialise in data analytics, which involves performing and enhancing reviews at businesses, using sophisticated tools to quickly and efficiently profile, analyse and report upon large volumes of data.  Enhancing our work with analytics is always extremely valuable, both for our own understanding and our clients’ insight into their business operations, some of our results are really fascinating and provide a new level of insight into an organisation.

Why do you think Deloitte is a good place for women to work?

At Deloitte there is a strong focus on career development and supporting individuals to progress in the firm. This has been very valuable to me and really supported my own development and progression.

We have specific support available for women and I am regularly involved in initiatives such as The Women in Technology network; a forum for women to get together and listen to advice and guidance from more experienced women in the firm or external speakers.

How have you found it being a woman working in technology?

I have had a very positive experience at Deloitte thus far, I feel supported, motivated and sufficiently challenged. I do not think being a woman has had any impact on my integration in the team or progression in the firm.

I have seen more and more women join the team in more recent years and am excited about the future for women in technology at Deloitte.

How has Deloitte played a role in your long term career goals?

I am very ambitious person and I am always looking to progress in my career. Deloitte has always supported my development and ambition to continue to move up in the firm, providing a challenging and stimulating place to work.

What advice would you give to anyone thinking about working in technology?

It is an exciting environment to work in!. I would encourage anyone to consider a career in this fast paced, constantly evolving and developing area of work.
