Life at Deloitte
Director – IT Strategy
I work with CIOs and their leadership teams to transform IT organisations
What did you study?
Mathematics and Computer Sciences.
What do you do at Deloitte Technology Consulting?
My client roles typically involve working with their Chief Information Officer (CIO) and their leadership teams to deliver the strategy for IT, their operating model and how we can support them transform their IT organisation.
However, no single day is the same. A day may include a client workshop, meetings with clients, interviewing candidates for roles at Deloitte, catching up with my team, catching up with previous clients.
Outside of client engagements, I look after our new Analysts within Technology Strategy & Architecture, ensuring that they have a successful start to their careers. I also contribute to topics such as IT Target Operating Models and CIO Advisory services, helping to shape Deloitte’s thinking in topics which are very relevant to our customers.
Why did you choose a career in Technology?
I love the variety – every day is different.
I get to work with lots of different clients, on different types of projects, in different locations and with different colleagues from Deloitte.
As we are not just a technology firm we have the advantage of having female role models for our technology consultants outside of technology too and this has helped me in my career at the firm.
Deloitte has provided me with some great opportunities and experiences to further my career. I have had a wide range of projects and roles, working in different industries, doing anything from requirements gathering to IT Strategy and I’ve worked with some great people.
What would you say to someone considering a career in Technology?
Being a woman in technology is getting easier! There seem to be a lot more women working in technology than there were in 2000 when I started working. I think for those starting out their careers now there are more role models now.
As we are not just a technology firm we have the advantage of having female role models for our technology consultants outside of technology.
