Life at Deloitte

Robyn Silcock

Consultant, Audit Advisory - IT Audit

What do you like most about your role?

I like the variety of clients because it means that although the scope of controls we’re testing can be similar, the work will always be different and have its own unique challenges.

What work do you get involved in on a day to day basis at Deloitte?

I’m usually part of our teams working at Audit Clients, completing testing over the controls of their IT systems.  I also spend a lot of time helping out with Student Recruitment and sourcing hosts for our events.

Why do you think Deloitte is a good place for women to work?

Because of the culture of strong women who are already working at Deloitte.  It’s good that there are female partners, showing that there’s equality in all grades.

How have you found it being a woman working in technology?

I’ve found it interesting, you can still see in clients that the IT departments are typically dominated by the number of male staff, but all the women you come across working in technology are very good at what they do.

How has Deloitte played a role in your long term career goals?

I’m on the Graduate Scheme at Deloitte, which has been a great start to my career.  It allows me to study for the ACA Qualification alongside my job, meaning future prospects will be much wider for me.
