Building the world you want to see

In conversation with Antonia Forster
Building the world you want to see

Sometimes, if you want something to exist… you have to make it yourself.

But that’s easier said than done. Because it’s easy to listen to all of the reasons why we can’t do something. But amazing things can happen when we focus on the things that we can do.

Antonia Forster did just that. She used her knowledge of augmented and virtual reality to create the world’s first LGBTQ+ VR museum. The digital space is a powerful example of immersive storytelling and is built around a virtual collection of artworks, objects, and stories from the LGBTQ+ community.

While working with Antonia to host the museum in a physical space in London, we caught up with her to find out more about her journey into the world of augmented reality (spoiler – it starts with penguins…), what true representation means to her and how technology can be used as a way of achieving it.

Whether it’s seeking out different stories, telling them in new ways or perhaps bringing that idea that you’ve been thinking about for a while to life, we hope you feel inspired by Antonia’s story. We were reminded that, when used in a purposeful way, technology can bring people together. It can put the power in our hands. The power to create, to change and to connect.
