The COVID-19 lockdown has had a very significant impact on many businesses and corporate cash flow positions will typically have been carefully managed. Restarting business when lockdown measures are eased may mean some companies consider a more extensive restructuring programme for long-term survival. So, how should the pension scheme be considered in such a process? It may already be forgoing deficit repair contributions and will be keen to make up lost ground but there may be bigger issues at stake if corporate success cannot be achieved via a restructuring programme. We’ll discuss:
- The issues to consider when restructuring a business with a Defined Benefit pension plan.
- Both the actuarial and covenant considerations in managing the pension scheme plus other pensions stakeholders such as the UK Pensions Regulator and the Pension Protection Fund as part of a restructuring process.
Join our panel of experts to hear perspectives on key considerations for businesses.
