The sting in the tale

Are banks attracting the right talent?

Banks are no longer the employer of choice for business students. This report looks at critical talent issues facing banks. It suggests how to improve the employee value proposition to ensure banks recruit and retain the talent they need to meet the challenges of the future.

The Deloitte Talent in Banking survey 2015, produced in collaboration with Universum, surveyed 211,000 business students from more than 2,000 universities and institutes of higher education in 55 countries. We asked them about their intentions, aspirations and expectations in relation to banking careers.

Attracting innovative and ethical talent is proving increasingly difficult as individuals become more attracted to industries such as software and computer services. Faced with unparalleled disruption, banks will find it difficult to compete and to transform culturally without the right talent in place. Moreover, they are losing out to fast-rising tech companies, and attracting conservatives instead of innovators.

This report looks at how the banking sector can turn things around.
