International Women’s Day 2015

6 March 2015

Commenting on International Women’s Day, Emma Codd, Managing Partner for Talent at Deloitte, said;

“This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is ‘Make it happen’. At Deloitte, we believe that there are two necessary components needed to enable women in the workplace. Firstly, that their talent is identified and developed from an early stage, with this development continuing as they progress through the organisation. Secondly, that they are able to work in an environment that embraces agility – that judges on output and not presenteeism – and that truly enables them to balance a meaningful career with their outside commitments such as family. Without these components, women will continue to struggle not only to remain within the workplace but also to fully develop their careers into meaningful leadership positions.

“At Deloitte, we also believe we can play a key part in laying the foundations for women prior to their entry to the work-place. Our Deloitte Access initiative, in partnership with Teach First, works with school children who may not traditionally have thought that a career in professional services was an option. In line with the Government’s Your Life campaign, aimed at increasing the number of women studying science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects, volunteers from Deloitte will mentor and work with Deloitte Access schools across the UK to raise aspirations and skills of young people.”
