Deloitte's UK manufacturing industry leader, Duncan Johnston, responds to today’s PMI figures
01 May 2019
Commenting on the IHS Markit/CIPS UK Manufacturing PMI, which went from 55.1 in March to 53.1 in April, Duncan Johnston, UK manufacturing industry leader at Deloitte, said:
“At a time when the UK is experiencing record levels of employment, the manufacturing industry has reported job losses for the third time in the past four months as their focus remains on managing short term uncertainty. However business optimism has increased to a seven month high so the question is: will this translate into a future bump in job creation?”
