On target for impacting one million people’s futures
Deloitte announces new charity partnerships
29 April 2019
Deloitte is continuing the success of One Million Futures, the firm’s social impact initiative, with the launch of 13 new charity partners in June.
Midway into the firm’s five year programme to help one million people get to where they want to be through access to education and employment, the initiative has already made an impact for over 475,000 people’s futures while contributing over £10 million to society*.
David Sproul, senior partner and Chief Executive of Deloitte UK, said: “Making an impact on one million futures was an ambitious target in just five years, but through the commitment and goodwill of our people, we are making a positive impact in society. Together we’ve delivered 74 pro bono projects - valued at £1.85 million, and our people have given over 67,000 hours. With partnerships from Aberdeen to Jersey, we are committed to changing people’s futures.”
Much of the impact to date has been delivered through partnerships with over 50 charities, social enterprises and schools across the UK. Initiatives have included nurturing individuals through mentoring and employability skills workshops through to supporting organisations with their strategic ambitions.
The new charity partnerships will start on 1 June 2019 and will continue to focus on helping people get access to education and employment. Sproul continued: “Based on our experience of what works, these new and existing partnerships will enable our people to have an even greater impact in the communities in which we work. We have identified organisations that are supporting some of the hardest to reach groups in society and we will help them access learning and skills. Across our regions and nations, we are working with charities that are focused on having a positive impact in the local community. We are also refreshing our approach to working with social enterprises helping to focus accelerated business growth of ambitious and exciting social enterprises.”
A number of charity and social enterprise partnerships will be naturally concluding at the end of the current contract cycle on 31 May. New and continuing partnerships will start on 1 June.
The Prince’s Trust, a One Million Futures charity partner since 2016, is one of the charities continuing its partnership with Deloitte. Ben Marson, director of partnerships at The Prince’s Trust, commented: “The impact of Deloitte’s volunteering, fundraising and pro bono services has enabled us to help thousands of young people transform their lives. Together, we have developed the confidence and skills young people need to successfully live, learn and earn. We are excited to continue our partnership with One Million Futures.”
