Deloitte appoints head of Europol as senior cyber partner

• Rob Wainwright, executive director of Europol, joins Deloitte Cyber team;
• Brings 25-years of experience to the firm including from the Serious Organised Crime Agency, National Criminal Intelligence Service and the British Security Service;
• New hire part of the continued growth of Deloitte’s cyber security practice, including employing an additional 500 people across Europe.

Deloitte today announces the appointment of Rob Wainwright as a senior partner in its European cyber security practice, where he will help lead and grow the team and business with clients. He will also be engaged in areas of related risk, such as financial crime and fraud.

Rob joins Deloitte from Europol, the European Union (EU) law enforcement agency, where he has been Executive Director for the past nine years. As a high-level executive in the EU and the leading voice in European policing, he managed the agency of 1,000 people with an operational network spanning 40 countries.* Europol connects over 1,000 law enforcement agencies and supports almost 50,000 cross-border investigations each year against transnational threats from crime and terrorism.

Rob has had a 25-year career in intelligence, policing, government, EU and international affairs, including at the Serious Organised Crime Agency, National Criminal Intelligence Service and the British Security Service. Originally from the UK, Rob is an honorary fellow at the University of Exeter and Cardiff University, and a member of the UK Prime Minister’s Task Force on Modern Slavery.

Rob will join the firm in June 2018 and whilst he will continue to be based in the Netherlands, he will work with clients across Europe.
