Deloitte chief economist comments on this morning's GDP figures
11 November 2019
Commenting on the latest GDP figures, published this morning by the Office for National Statistics, Ian Stewart, chief economist at Deloitte, said:
“This is a pretty respectable performance given the headwinds from the global slowdown, protectionism and Brexit uncertainties. But with businesses focussed on cutting costs, wages and jobs are likely to come under pressure. The outlook for 2020 is for more sub-par growth.”
