Deloitte crowned a Gender Equality Game Changer employer
Fourth year as a Times Top 50 Employer for Women 2019
24 April 2019
Deloitte has been recognised by Business in the Community (BITC) as one of the top 50 employers for women in the UK for the fourth consecutive year. In addition, Deloitte has been awarded a prestigious Gender Equality Game Changer Award; this award recognises the firm’s relentless focus on respect and inclusion since 2015.
The top 50 list, published in The Times, celebrates UK employers focused on driving greater gender equality in the workplace.
Emma Codd, Managing Partner for Talent at Deloitte, said: “We are extremely proud to be listed once again as a top employer for women alongside other companies that are committed to driving greater gender equality in the workplace.
“It is also a great honour to receive a Game Changer Award for the focus that we have had on ensuring that we always provide an inclusive culture underpinned by respect.
“This focus, which has been led from the top of our firm, has seen us – amongst other things - create the thought-provoking Ask Yourself film, put 6,000 of our most senior leaders through extensive inclusive leadership sessions, create and roll out mandatory online inclusion development sessions to all our people, and ensure that all our people feel able to escalate any concerns they may have when it comes to respect and inclusion.”
Business in the Community is calling for companies to do more if they want to attract and retain the best talent. Chloe Chambraud, Director of Gender Equality at Business in the Community said: “Historically companies focused on policies and processes to address the inequality and bias that employees face on a daily basis. But this is not enough. It is only by changing the culture and promoting positive behaviours from the top that employers will see real change, and we look forward to supporting them on this journey.”

The Times Top 50 Employers for Women is the UK’s most highly profiled and well-established listing of employers leading the way on workplace gender equality. These employers make gender equality part of their business strategy at all levels and are sought out by people looking for their first job and looking to move roles later in their career.
Each year Business in The Community invites companies with a presence in the UK to apply by detailing what they are doing to work towards gender equality in their organisation.
The companies who made it onto the list were selected by gender equality experts at Business in the Community, this list is unranked and listed in alphabetical order.
The assessment process focusses on transparency, the causes behind gaps, what companies are doing to address these structural issues and the impact of their actions. The evaluation includes, but is not limited to, roles of senior leaders, actions to increase representation of women in senior positions, intersectionality, supporting parents and carers, bullying and harassment and the economic empowerment of women in supply chains and communities.
