Deloitte senior economist comments on today's GDP figures
11 November 2021
Commenting on the latest GDP figures, published by the ONS today, Debapratim De, senior economist at Deloitte, said:
“Economic activity accelerated sharply in September in spite of significant gas shortages. The better-than-expected outcome is encouraging, as is the pickup in service sector activity.
“But weakness in consumer-facing services, despite minimal social distancing restrictions over the summer, and a contraction in industrial production, highlight that parts of the economy continued to be blighted by the paucity of labour and raw materials.”
