First Minister of Wales opens new Deloitte office in Park Street, Cardiff

2 December 2015

The First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones, and Deloitte UK senior partner and CEO, David Sproul, have today officially opened Deloitte’s new office in Park Street, Cardiff.

The new office highlights Deloitte’s expansion in the region, where the firm has made over 230 new appointments in 2015. It will serve as the third office for the Deloitte Cardiff Delivery Centre, led by director Ross Flanigan. The Delivery Centre operates separately to Deloitte’s local practice based in Callaghan Square, which provides advice and support to clients in the region under the leadership of Wayne Harvey. Overall, Deloitte now has four offices in Cardiff.

The Delivery Centre is one of the firm’s nearshore delivery centres in the UK and its work contributes significantly to the way that Deloitte provides services both internally and for clients. The centre operates nationally and internationally and has established specialist teams in areas such as risk management, international tax administration, multi-lingual research, data analytics, technology and combatting financial crime.

The Delivery Centre will also play a part in the firm’s ambitions to increase opportunities and widen access to professional services. This summer, the firm recruited a number of recent graduates from the Cardiff Metropolitan University and University of South Wales business schools. It has also partnered with Cardiff & Vale College on a Business Administration apprenticeship scheme, which saw its first intake of apprentices in September.

David Sproul, CEO and senior partner, Deloitte UK, said: “I am delighted to welcome the First Minister of Wales to the official opening of the Delivery Centre’s new office in Park Street.

“We are over half way towards our ambition to create more than 700 new jobs in the city and this expansion highlights our growing business in Wales and the firm’s contribution to the Welsh economy. In September, the Delivery Centre was named Financial and Professional Services Business of the Year by Cardiff Business Awards and I look forward to welcoming the next stage of its development.”

Carwyn Jones, First Minister of Wales, said: “Deloitte’s expansion and planned jobs creation in the Central Cardiff Enterprise Zone is great news. We’re fast becoming the first choice for businesses looking to expand their operations and we’re proud to be supporting business growth, strengthening and delivering for our economy.

“It’s really important that financial and professional services operations see Cardiff as a good place to do business – a vibrant and viable option outside London. I’m sure that Deloitte’s increasing presence in the capital will attract other similar companies to Wales and I wish them every success in the future.”

Ross Flanigan, Cardiff Delivery Centre director, Deloitte, said: “We needed an office that would give us the flexibility to grow over time. Through the redevelopment of the Park Street property, we have been able to create a modern and efficient workspace for our people in the heart of the city, on the edge of the new Central Square development. I am thrilled to welcome the First Minister and our own CEO to open this vibrant new workplace.”
