Garrett O’Connor joins Deloitte’s Financial Advisory practice, specialising in performance improvement

19 October 2021

Garrett O’Connor has joined Deloitte’s Financial Advisory practice as a partner in their Value Creation Services (VCS) offering. He will help clients deliver rapid EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) and cash improvements.

Garrett works with businesses requiring significant change – often due to a sale, acquisition, refinancing or distressed operational performance.

He is joining Deloitte from FTI Consulting and has over 25 years’ combined consulting and industry experience. This includes driving business unit turnarounds whilst in industry, and working alongside clients as an advisor on cost reductions and margin improvements.

Commenting on the appointment Dave Sharman, Deloitte partner and head of the VCS practice said: “The post-pandemic landscape requires all businesses to interrogate their revenue, margin and bottom line in order to shape up for the future. Garrett will play a vital role in our expanding performance improvement services which aims to deliver this.”

Garrett O’Connor said: “I am delighted to be joining an expanding team working with our clients to maximise value from their businesses and transactions. We have a tremendous set of capabilities we can bring to help address these critical challenges.”

The appointment coincides with the recent hires of Victor Martinez and Shetal Edwards as directors to the same team. Victor has spent over ten years in PE portfolios, corporates and consulting in the technology, automotive and industrial sectors. Shetal has experience of delivering cost reduction and performance improvement programmes across multiple sectors.

The VCS team, led by Dave Sharman, now has four partners with Garrett joining Ewa Bielecka, and Anton Koupenov with plans for further expansion in the coming months.
