Deloitte and St Oswald’s Hospice create paw-fect partnership

The Newcastle office of business advisory firm Deloitte is delighted to announce they have raised over £9,000 for St Oswald’s Hospice since the beginning of their charity partnership in June 2015, and the firm is continuing the partnership through sponsorship of the charity’s Great North Snowdogs project.

The local charity was selected after a vote by the 200 staff in the firm’s Newcastle Quayside offices. Since the partnership began staff have been raising much needed funds through a range of activities from the traditional dress down days and bake sales to the more adventurous, including a team running 13.1 miles as part of the Great North Run.

As well as raising funds, Deloitte has also provided pro bono support to the Hospice’s finance team, including providing advice on tax efficient giving and supporting the fundraising staff to become more financially aware.

Deloitte continues its partnership with St Oswald’s Hospice through the Great North Snowdogs project.

Presented by creative producers Wild in Art, working in partnership with St Oswald's Children’s Hospice, Great North Snowdogs will bring together businesses, artists, schools and community groups to create a public art trail of beautiful Snowdog sculptures, based on the story The Snowman ™ and The Snowdog, by Raymond Briggs.

For ten weeks during Autumn and Winter 2016, the North East’s streets, parks and open spaces will become home to a series of individually designed Snowdog sculptures, painted by both well-known and undiscovered artists. Deloitte is sponsoring one of the Snowdog sculptures, which from Monday 19 September is hoped to be based outside the Deloitte offices at One Trinity Gardens in Newcastle.

Stephen Hall, office senior partner at Deloitte in the North East, said: “I am delighted to have supported St Oswald’s Hospice as our local office charity for the last year.

“Through our corporate responsibility programme at Deloitte, our aim is to play a proactive role in helping our local charity deal with key organisational challenges, not just raising funds but also providing time and expertise through volunteering and pro-bono support.

“With 200 people based in our Newcastle office we have seen some fantastic fundraising efforts for St Oswald’s and I am delighted to continue to support the charity through the Great North Snowdogs – a truly exciting and inspirational project!"

Susan Jones, Corporate & Major Gifts Fundraising Manager at St Oswald’s said: “We were proud to have been selected as Deloitte’s North East charity of the year 2015/16, particularly as our selection came about due to a staff vote.

“The whole team from Deloitte have got really got on board both in terms of fundraising and supporting us with their professional expertise. It has been a pleasure working with them, and we are excited to continue our relationship with Deloitte as sponsors of our upcoming Great North Snowdogs project.”
