Working with 1625 Independent People

Connecting to make a difference to the lives of young people

Deloitte is proud to work with 1625 Independent People to end youth homelessness, and is committed to supporting the charity and positively impacting the lives young people in Bristol.

1625 Independent People is a Bristol based charity that supports young people in Bristol aged 16 - 25 who are at risk of becoming homeless or are already homeless. The charity provides essential services including securing homes, teaching life skills, offering advice and helping people to access training and job opportunities as well as a range of care and support services to help young people live happily and independently.

Our relationship with 1625IP began in 2016 when they were selected as our Bristol office charity partner. They do amazing work with young people in the community, including providing housing, helping young people secure employment, developing leadership skills, money management education and more. They work with young homeless people, care leavers as well as young ex-offenders.

Over the years, our partnership has included a range of support including volunteer work, donations, fundraising and pro bono projects. Through these projects our professionals use their skills and expertise to help the charity operate more effectively. And as a result, we can help amplify their impact to create brighter futures.

Deloitte teams have joined their annual sleep out fundraisers, spending a cold, November night sleeping outside in Bristol city centre.

With our help, the charity was able to re model and extend their employability support services, ensuring the young people they support receive an education, employment and a training assessment with a personalised plan and programme of one to one guidance, group workshops and mentoring. Through Deloitte’s One Million Futures Impact Foundation Fund, the charity secured £100,000 in funding and £50,000 in pro bono services to find opportunities for 30 new people and hire two new staff members.

We were delighted our volunteers helped 1625IP to develop an innovative employment scheme and assist them in expanding the help they offer young people via their Young Ambition initiative that connects homeless people in Bristol with local employers.

One such person helped through this programme was Akira, who kindly shared her story with us.

Our work with 1625IP in Bristol continues, and together we share the vision that every young person, no matter their start in life, should be given the chance to achieve a bright future.
