Stakeholder consultation for the International Cycling Union
In 2013 the Deloitte Sports Business Group was appointed by the International Cycling Union (UCI) to conduct a wide-ranging stakeholder consultation process entitled “A Bright Future for Cycling”.
The UCI wished to consult with stakeholders on a range of issues facing the sport in order to inform its future strategy and direction, in particular focusing on four broad “pillars”; globalisation, anti-doping, the cycling calendar and riders.
We worked closely with UCI management to design two online surveys, one for the general public and another for the “cycling family” and over 6,350 responses were received. We also facilitated a series of working group meetings for key stakeholders to explore each of the “pillars” in greater detail.
Our report set out eleven recommendations, all of which were accepted by the UCI Management Committee in June 2013.
“Deloitte’s Sports Business Group helped us manage our landmark Stakeholder Consultation, ‘A Bright Future for Cycling’. Deloitte’s report provides a deep insight into the views of cycling’s stakeholders and will lay an important foundation for the future development of the sport. Deloitte's support helped to create a positive response amongst stakeholders. They contributed to the challenging project with a high degree of involvement, demonstrating a deep understanding of cycling's issues.”
