HRI – Economic Impact of Irish Breeding and Racing
Horseracing Ireland (HRI), the national authority for thoroughbred racing in Ireland with responsibility for the governance, administration, development and promotion of the industry, commissioned Deloitte Sports Business Group to produce a report assessing the contribution of the Irish thoroughbred breeding and racing industry to the Irish economy.
The study measures economic activity stimulated directly by the expenditure of Breeding and Racing’s participants (breeders, owners, trainers etc.) and consumers (racegoers, viewers, punters etc.) which then flows through the wider economy.
Information was gathered via consultations with key stakeholders, a survey of racecourses and breeders and additional primary research carried out by Deloitte Sports Business Group.
