Economic impact of the British Greyhound racing industry for the Greyhound Board of Great Britain
The Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) engaged the Deloitte Sports Business Group to produce a report assessing the economic impact of the British greyhound racing industry to provide valuable advocacy and educational tools for the industry.
The economic impact report profiled the impact of the Greyhound racing industry in terms of revenues and expenditure, but with an emphasis on the sport’s relationship with the betting industry, its main source of revenue. More traditional economic impact measures carried out included taxation and employment.
The project involved consultations with a number of industry stakeholders (administration bodies, racecourses, trainers, the betting industry and broadcasters/media) together with financial modelling of the industry’s key cashflows.
Our report was published in March 2014.
“The Sports Business Group at Deloitte quickly got to grips with the issues facing greyhound racing and its multiple stakeholders, and have provided a comprehensive snapshot of the industry. This will be invaluable as we seek to move the sport forward in the coming years.”
Barry Faulkner, Chief Executive, Greyhound Board of Great Britain
