The Changing Role of Global Mobility
Strategic or supporting role?
This report is based on the results from our Deloitte pulse survey where we asked 68 Global Mobility professionals worldwide to provide their point of view on drivers for change, key challenges and what support they were receiving in their role.
- Change of role expectations – 88% of companies reported a significant change in the role of the Global Mobility professional over the past 5 years, with most professionals struggling to balance the expectation to provide strategic input and manage the increase in administration at the same time.
- Lack of training – “Under-developed skills” within the Global Mobility team was the number one challenge for companies within EMEA, yet 40% of Global Mobility professionals reported that they do not receive any training to support their role.
- Typically less strategically-focused – There is clear opportunity to further enhance the contribution and impact of Global Mobility on the wider business as only 19% of respondents view their current role as ‘completely strategic’.
