Success at the 2017 Global Equity Organization (GEO) Awards
Deloitte’s tax withholding calculator assisted in Royal Dutch Shell plc’s award success
We are delighted that Royal Dutch Shell plc received an award for the “Best Use of Technology” at the 2017 Global Equity Organization awards in Rome. The accolade was awarded to Royal Dutch Shell for their use of equity technology during their combination with BG Group in 2016. The technology solution included support from Royal Dutch Shell’s share plan administrator and Deloitte’s automated tax withholding tool, Incentives.
Incentives is Deloitte’s automated tax withholding calculator for equity and cash incentive plans. Incentives is capable of completing unlimited country combinations and processing transactions in real time. The calculation produces results for income, regional and social tax withholding, payroll reporting and amounts to be included in an employee’s tax return for all relevant tax jurisdictions over the life of an award. Incentives was created in 2006 but continues to evolve to deliver to the changing needs of companies.
Incentives was used, in conjunction with the administrator’s system, at the time of the combination between Royal Dutch Shell and BG. The solution meant that thousands of equity tax calculations were completed automatically within a very short period of time to deliver accurate tax compliance for Royal Dutch Shell and an excellent participant experience for employees.
The GEO Awards are intended to celebrate excellence by recognising companies all over the world who demonstrate dedication to employee stock plans and are renowned for designing, communicating and administrating programs which allow an international employee base to participate in their share incentive plans.
The award highlights the outstanding work which is delivered by Deloitte’s Tax practice to promote innovation and provide technology solutions to complex tax problems that companies face.
