Murtaza Lilani

Murtaza leads the Commodities Assurance and Accounting Advisory team that provides accounting and assurance services to front offices and accounting policy functions of large commodity trading houses, super majors and commodities finance banks.

Carbon financial accounting (including carbon credits, virtual power purchase arrangements and sale of carbon-neutral or carbon-reduced hydrocarbons) are his favourite topics and areas of expertise. He also works closely with Deloitte IFRS Centre of Excellence on developing new guidance for emerging topics like commodity loans, structured financing, working capital solutions including supplier prepays and inventory financing. Murtaza is one of the go-to-experts for commodities accounting across Deloitte global network.

Murtaza also lead audits of a trading business of an oil super major and a commodity financing bank and has authored various expert witness reports globally.
