Phil advises on the financing of major capital transactions across infrastructure sectors and real estate. This is predominantly in transactions related to the energy transition and digital transformation, particularly new fibre broadband networks.
Phil has over 20 years’ experience in investment banking. Prior to joining Deloitte in 2019, he held roles in CIBC’s project finance team; HSBC’s project finance and debt capital markets team; and he was head of BNP Paribas’ Structured Corporate Finance (Infrastructure) team.
Whilst at HSBC Phil established their Project Bonds team (within the debt capital markets business) and completed a number of precedent setting deals including one of the UK’s earliest green bond issues; the first deferred draw project bond; and first HM Treasury guaranteed project bond.
Phil has a track record in developing and delivering innovative financing solutions. He previously advised the European Investment Bank on the development and implementation of their Project Bond Credit Enhancement product.
