Jim serves as the vice chair, US Power, Utilities & Renewables leader, as well as a lead client service partner for Deloitte Consulting LLP. A consulting principal based in Tampa, Jim has more than 30 years of consulting experience working with global power, utility, and renewable energy clients. He is focused on delivering solutions to complex and critical challenges within the industry and brings a strong passion for making a difference with some of our largest power, utility, and renewable energy businesses and their customers.

Tom has more than 30 years of experience serving clients in the energy industry in our Chicago, New Orleans and Indianapolis offices. He has served as the lead client service partner, concurring partner or advisory partner on several large energy clients that have participated in virtually all aspects of the industry, from basic utility distribution service to electric and gas transmission, propane distribution, coal mining, energy trading, energy services, nuclear generation and independent power production. His range of experience includes external audit, internal control audits, rate case filing reviews, and purchase accounting related to the acquisition and/or disposition of plants and businesses. In addition, Tom has served several renewable energy clients assisting them with various financing and other accounting matters. Tom has a significant expertise in Securities and Exchange Commission requirements, including those associated with initial public offerings and has served as the lead audit partner on many public financings including master limited partnerships. Tom also has a considerable experience in ratemaking and other areas of regulatory accounting. Tom is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and is a member of the New Orleans Advisory Board of the Posse Foundation.

As a principal in Deloitte Risk & Financial Advisory, Katie currently serves as the leader of the Business Insurance Claims Consulting and the Energy, Resources & Industrials (ER&I) industry practices. Katie brings more than 20 years of experience assisting clients with damages assessments, lost profit calculations, insurance claims preparation, and disputes and investigations. In her ER&I industry leadership role, she manages over 1,000 Deloitte professionals in the areas of Transactions, M&A, Regulatory/Legal Support, Cyber, Strategic Risk, and Accounting/Internal Controls services. Prior to these roles, Katie led Deloitte’s Environmental & Sustainability Consulting services and subsequently held practice leadership roles in the oil and gas, and power and utilities sectors, working with clients and Boards of Directors to assess and manage risks to corporate, functional, and operational strategies.

Dave regularly advises clients in the areas of planning, evaluating, and supporting federal income tax reporting positions. He also leads Deloitte’s US Power, Utilities & Renewables Tax practice. His work with power and gas companies includes consultation and representation with respect to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) controversies; drafting/reviewing Applications for Change in Accounting Method (IRS Form 3115) and participating in accounting method reviews; and, serving as a tax specialist on financial statement audits. He works with regulated public utilities to model the ratemaking effects of tax benefits, compute the tax components of rate base and cost of service, draft/review pre-filed rate case testimony, draft/review IRS ruling requests, and meet with public utility commission staff and IRS national office personnel regarding normalization issues. Dave is a frequent speaker regarding federal income tax matters relevant to regulated utilities and unregulated power producers, including seminars sponsored by the tax committee of Edison Electric Institute, the combined tax committees of the American Gas Association and the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America, Tax Executives Institute, the staff subcommittee on accounting and finance of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners, SNL/EXNET, PowerPlant Consultants, Infocast, and Institute for International Research. Dave also leads the Deloitte course, Utility Industry Book/Tax Differences and Financial Reporting for Income Taxes: Rate-regulated Utilities and is responsible for updating the content of these courses. Dave holds a BS in commerce (accountancy) and a MS in taxation from DePaul University.
