Karl Hersch
Karl is Deloitte’s US Insurance Leader responsible for leading the firm’s overall insurance sector strategy, bringing the firm’s practice areas together to serve Deloitte’s portfolio of insurance clients. Throughout his 30-year career, Karl has served the financial services and insurance industries extensively, providing him with a well-rounded understanding of the most complex and critical issues clients face. Karl has experience working across Deloitte’s Audit, Advisory and Consulting businesses, enabling him to bring Deloitte’s best to our clients. He served as the Insurance Finance Transformation practice leader and the FSI Enterprise Performance practice leader. Karl’s vision as the US Insurance Leader is to inspire our clients and professionals to recognize the remarkable purpose-driven impact the insurance sector has on society through personal and commercial risk management, security and safety services and products, and on long-term wealth creation and preservation.

Michelle Canaan
Michelle is the insurance research manager in the Deloitte Center for Financial Services. As a subject matter specialist for the insurance industry, Michelle produces thoughtware on current and future trends, including strategies and solutions for our clients. Several papers most recently authored are, “Financial inclusion and the underserved life insurance market, part two: Closing the US coverage gap to drive growth and bolster DEI" and "Closing the gap on US retirement savings".

Tina Witney
Tina has more than 20 years of experience leading Business Transformation initiatives focused on workforce strategies, organization design, talent management, leadership development, change management and executive lab design and facilitation. Tina’s consulting engagements include a variety of projects such as workforce transformation, mergers and acquisitions, technology adoption, and organization restructuring in HR and Finance. Tina is a certified Greenhouse Lab facilitator and has conducted numerous executive transition, Business Chemistry, culture, operating model and talent labs. Tina currently is our COVID-19 re-entry market offering leader and serves as the lead Human Capital partner for a number of our premier financial services clients. In addition to client service, Tina is currently the Chief Talent Officer for our National Insurance practice. Tina has held multiple leadership roles: Human Capital Finance Transformation practice leader, National HC WIN leader. She is a frequent external speaker on the topic of COVID-19 re-entry and the Future of Work, and has authored thought ware on people strategies in the financial services industry. Representative clients include: AIG, AXA Equitable Life, BNY Mellon, Chubb, Everest, FM Global, Fidelity, Liberty Mutual, Lincoln Financial, Nationwide, Navigator’s Group, NY Life and AXA XL.

Akash Tayal
Akash is a principal and market offering leader for Cloud Strategy, Architecture, & Transformation at Deloitte Consulting. He has over 18 years of experience with technology management and business process consulting with a predominant focus in the Financial Services Industry. He has experience in helping clients drive technology strategy, leveraging technology to create new business propositions, IT transformations, infrastructure and cloud strategy, and global operating model programs. Akash also leads Deloitte's Cloud offering for the Insurance industry.

David Sherwood
David Sherwood is a managing director at Deloitte & Touche LLP, specializing in risk management, regulation, and compliance. He has broad financial services regulatory experience in both the United States and the United Kingdom. After heading up industry compliance and risk roles, he now helps clients navigate regulatory and organizational change domestically and internationally. He is a regular public speaker on US and international regulation, including climate risk.
