Meet the speakers
Jeffrey J. Smith
Jeff is Deloitte’s National Real Estate leader with nearly 30 years of audit and accounting experience. Throughout his career, Jeff has worked with public and private owners, developers, sponsors, managers, and lenders in nearly all sectors of the real estate and hospitality industries. Jeff has significant experience with global and public REITs, in historical cost and fair-value reporting, and in accounting for complex lease, contract, and finance transactions, including debt restructuring and bankruptcy. He has assisted numerous public companies with SEC filings and has directed Deloitte’s efforts on many public equity and debt offerings, including initial public offerings. In addition to serving as a lead client service partner, Jeff is an engagement quality control reviewer for other large public and private clients. In this capacity, he independently confirms the quality and accuracy of the audit work performed by Deloitte teams. Previous leadership positions include Deloitte’s Central Region Real Estate leader and Chicago’s Office Audit leader. Jeff received a BA in Government from the University of Notre Dame and an MS in Accountancy from DePaul University. He is a member of NAREIT, ULI and ICSC.
Kevin is Deloitte’s National REIT Sector Leader and specializes in serving in client leader roles for real estate engagments with a national or global footprint. Kevin's experience includes serving public and private clients in the areas of coordinating and leading multi-location audits; reporting with the Securities and Exchange Commission; acquisition due diligence and accounting; and general business advisory.
Christine is a partner in Sustainability and ESG services. In her current role at Deloitte, she assists companies with assessing the environmental and social impacts of their business and supply chain. Her sustainability experience includes working with clients in various industries on sustainability reporting initiatives. She has deep experience with Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) standards, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD), and other industry specific reporting frameworks.
Lynn is a tax partner in the Atlanta office of Deloitte with more than 18 years of experience serving significant real estate, REIT, partnership and private equity clients. She has structured numerous real estate transactions, including mergers, spin offs, joint ventures, investment funds, down REITs, and captive REITs involving real estate assets throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.
Jamie is a Principal in Deloitte’s Strategy practice focused on Financial Services and Real Estate clients’ business model and operations challenges. Jamie serves a range of Financial Services, Real Estate, and Banking clients and leads Deloitte Consulting’s Real Estate Industry practice. Jamie has more than 20 years of industry and consulting experience working on a range of challenges, including helping clients evolve and configure their operating models, incorporate disruptive automation technologies, and execute a range of improvement or transformational initiatives. His experience covers the spectrum from initial assessment to design and implementation of operating model or technology-enabled transformations and efficiency initiatives, including merger integration work to help clients grow and scale.
