Life at Deloitte
Deloitte supports marriage equality
We believe in strength from diversity
June 26, 2015
Today, the United States Supreme Court announced its ruling, in a 5-4 decision, in favor of marriage equality. The Supreme Court has legalized same-sex marriage nationwide by ruling that the U.S. Constitution bars states from denying marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
Deloitte is proud of its commitment to an inclusive work environment where all of our professionals have the opportunity to develop and thrive as leaders. This commitment includes our continued support for the LGBT community, both internally and in the communities in which we live and serve. At Deloitte, we strive to attract, develop and advance the best and brightest talent and in order to do so our Firm must provide an inclusive work environment that embraces the development and well-being of all of our professionals. The patchwork of state laws created undue stress and anxiety for many of our professionals because of a lack of certainty around marriage equality.
As you may have already noticed the Deloitte Green Dot has changed its color today for the first time in our history. We believe this is one of the most powerful ways of showing that Deloitte stands with all of its professionals. The change in color will remain through today to boldly illustrate one of our core values–Strength from Diversity.
We believe our stance on marriage equality makes us more unified as a Firm so that we can continue to make an impact that matters for our clients, our people, our communities, and society as a whole.
