Deloitte, Dcode Bring Space Accelerator to Washington, DC

Six innovative startups complete intensive seven-week program, connect with government agencies, learn about opportunities in the government market

WASHINGTON, December 20, 2018 — The Dcode accelerator program recently concluded its Space 2.0 Accelerator powered by Deloitte in Washington, DC. This program put six space industry startups through an intensive seven-week program to bring their innovative technologies to government agencies across the country. Over 100 leaders across government agencies and private industry participated in the program to discover new ways to help improve their operations and connect with cutting edge technology.

"We’ve seen private investment in space technology skyrocket in recent years," said Dcode CEO and founder Meagan Metzger. "We launched this program to help make sure government leverages these innovations effectively and doesn’t get left behind."

"Some of the world’s most innovative and fastest-moving companies are focused on the space industry and government can benefit from what these new ventures are doing to advance capabilities and jumpstart programs," said Nishita Henry, principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP and chief innovation officer.

"Space-technology has long been used to address everyday problems, and government agencies are continuing to use innovation solutions to solve their most pressing challenges," said Brett Loubert, principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP, and government and public services space industry lead. "We look forward to working with Dcode to help drive the partnership between government and commercial organizations closer."

Dcode’s Space 2.0 cohort consists of six leading commercial space ventures with more than $60 million in venture capital backing. Dcode hosted events in Los Angeles, Colorado Springs and Washington, DC from October through December to connect government agencies with the program technologies, bringing together dozens of leading prime contractors and leaders from agencies including the US Air Force, US Army, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, National Oceanic, and Atmospheric Administration, the US Coast Guard and more.

The six space ventures include:

  • Infinite Composites Technologies
  • Kepler Communications
  • Metamaterial Technologies Inc.
  • RBC Signals
  • Slingshot Aerospace
  • Tacit.io
