Heather Gates Named National Managing Director of Deloitte’s Audit & Assurance Emerging Growth Company Practice
NEW YORK, July 19, 2017 — Deloitte’s Audit & Assurance practice has named Heather Gates national managing director of its Emerging Growth Company (EGC) practice. She succeeds Jim Atwell, the industry leader who recruited her to join his team over a decade ago to expand the group’s footprint in the market.
“Heather brings decades of both audit and sales experience to the table, having spent the majority of her career delivering audits and supporting audit growth,” said Adam Weissenberg, national managing partner, audit clients and industries, Deloitte & Touche LLP. “In addition, her immersion in the startup ecosystem as a founder, investment banker and auditor provides her with a unique perspective and positions the EGC practice to continue addressing our clients' most pressing concerns.”
Gates inherits a growing national EGC practice that serves clients across industries, from early-stage startups on the cusp of their initial public offering to mature global corporations. In this new role, she and her team will deliver analytics-driven audit services that will help EGCs to take full advantage of their marketplace position and potential.
“In this highly competitive marketplace, Deloitte is setting itself apart by using innovative solutions to transform the audit and create opportunities for a new generation of leaders,” said Gates. “With Deloitte’s advanced technologies we are transforming how audits are delivered. I’m especially proud of my team’s commitment to quality and forward-looking mindset, which will help to further bolster our marketplace position.”
Gates served most recently as Deloitte’s west region Audit & Assurance Emerging Growth Company practice leader and national sales leader. She has more than 25 years of experience working with high-growth technology companies, including more than 15 years at Deloitte. Gates is based in San Jose and is a graduate of the University of Colorado. She currently works as a volunteer with the Churchill Club Board to cultivate the next generation of innovators and business leaders in Silicon Valley.
