Advancing learning pathways in business, accounting, and STEM education

...

The Deloitte Foundation provides critical funding and skill-building opportunities for high school and college students, and students ages 14-24 pursuing other learning pathways. We help students’ education and career aspirations become reality.

Program resources and initiatives for students

Through collaborations with education programs, academic institutions, and nonprofit organizations, the Deloitte Foundation helps prepare students for the future of work and meaningful careers in business, accounting, and STEM.

As one example, the Foundation is collaborating with a national nonprofit organization that helps high school students gain foundational technology skills and explore the possibilities of a STEM career.

The Virtual Mentoring Program leverages an online platform hosted by a college and career readiness nonprofit organization that connects Deloitte professionals with high school and college students with financial need to help them prepare for college, careers, and a world of opportunity.

The program, which is funded by the Deloitte Foundation, helps students prepare for and persist through high school and college and then transition to a career. Students who qualify for financial assistance can opt into free, one-to-one virtual mentoring to help them navigate the college application process and provides broad guidance on their college and career paths. To date, Deloitte professionals and retired Deloitte Partners/Principals/Managing Directors have mentored more than 13,000 students.

The Deloitte Foundation supports high school students from under-resourced communities and/or who are first in their families to attend college to pursue degrees in business, technology, engineering, and other related fields.

For example, the Foundation provided grants totaling more than $5 million to fund college scholarships for graduating seniors at 35 select high schools to help students stay on track with their business, accounting, and STEM career journeys.

To support the workforce of the future, the Foundation collaborates with two-year and four-year colleges to develop scholarship programs to assist students working toward degrees in accounting, business, and STEM. Grants have included support to establish a fund for students pursuing associate degrees as well as scholarships for community college students from under-resourced communities transferring to four-year institutions to pursue bachelor’s degrees in business, accounting, and STEM.

The Deloitte Foundation provides support to help prepare two-year college students as they transition to four-year accounting programs. For example, the Foundation hosts a symposium designed to help these students during this critical period and promote awareness of education and career pathways in accounting.

The DFASP helps fund scholarships for students interested in pursuing a fifth-year master’s degree in accounting, master’s of tax or master’s of accounting with a concentration in audit, advisory, or tax.
